I wanted to have a “burning desire”, a drive from within, a personal testimony and strength. I have some small testimony of some things: I cannot deny that there is a God. He lives and walks and talks to men. I know that the church is true. But the problem I am having is accepting the fact that I’m here on a mission, called of our Lord Jesus Christ. I didn’t want to do missionary work or any of the Lord’s work really. But now that I’m here I need to know for sure. I learned in proselyting class that you get something by giving it. If I bear what testimony I do have I believe that the Lord will increase my testimony (also by my works). I will henceforth bear my testimony, however shaky or small, every time I get a chance. I was commanded or counseled by Elder Burton when he set me apart to bear my testimony continually. Thus I hope I will do. Shakespeare wrote, “What e’er thou art, play well thy part.” This is good advice for me.
It came from President David O. McKay’s message read by his son at General Priesthood meeting. When he was discouraged, he and his companion were sloughing off visiting a castle; the Prophet saw a quotation written on a wall. He wanted to go read it and as soon as he did the message

really struck him and was encouraged to continue the work. Another inspiring message was this: “The greatest battle you win is in the silent chamber of your soul.” The hardest thing for us to do is master ourselves, to decide whom we will serve — The Son of the Morning or our Lord Jesus Christ.
I wish to quote one final verse written by Paul, I believe: “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this work—against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shot with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith he shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmut of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God” Amen.
