Page 57 27/12/69 Saturday

I just passed my first Christmas here in Europe.  It wasn’t bad.  We exchanged gifts here in the city.  I gave Elder Christensen an Asterix which he liked.  Friday we went up to St. Quentin then to Valenciennes for a get-together for the zone.  Played basketball for about 3 hours.  Then ate a nice ham dinner.  Exchanged gifts. Came home to St. Quentin and “bushed” (everyone holds a coin in their hands and then they open their hands and the odd one wins…continue until there is one winner)  for beds.  I got a cot and Elder Christensen got the floor. We were all dead tired and stiff.  Elder De Coursey is ZAP in Lille.  Wiebell is JZLeader here in Ile de France, with McKay the zone leader here. Elder Curtis is in Valenciennes and See and Corwin are companions in Roubaix.

That’s a rundown on the news. Shumard is baby ZAP in Waterloo and rumor  and speculation has it that Evershed is ZAP in the Alsace after 2 months in St. Omer. We tried to teach some “Witnesses” but they wouldn’t hear us on prophets or on scripture other than the Bible. Besides they were chicken.
I might be the Branch President here. We’re waiting for a letter from the President on it.  Poussard is going to open up  Compiègn with the French Mission.

We’ve found a house to make into a chapelle and apartment for at least one team.  Nice area of town. Just behind the “cirque municipal”…outdoor John and coal stoves and  little old daffy lady upstairs.
