I supposed I could write a whole journal after what has happened this last week. This is Sunday evening. After returning from the Seraing elders’ place we had to almost fight off two jeune filles (young women) who tried very hard to pick us up. Brother, was that ever close!!! I’m sure glad I’ve got a companion! It was the typical look-in-the-window display move. It was a little tight there for a minute. They were a couple of good looking babes. So much for the influence of the adversary.
Saturday night we attended a baptism in Liège. Liège II district baptized a Frère Chaumont. It was the most spiritual baptism, the most ideal ceremony that I have ever seen. The room was completely full. I played the piano. A frère gave a very fine talk on baptism. He had very fine French. Then they went down into the water. The Elder pronounced the prayer in a manner and accent very fine. Frère Chaumont was immersed and came up smiling. Then they threw their arms around each other and embraced in a very moving scene of brotherly love and pure joy. The frère was so happy that night. He was a young man, 35 or so—but his wife would not be baptized. I don’t know why not. He was very handsome, she very attractive and well-mannered. They returned from changing their clothes, a few testimonies and a song before though. Elder Westual, the Zone Leader, gave a very fine talk on the Holy Ghost.
