Dear Diary—

Today being Saturday it was a D-Day. Being Belgium it was overcast. Being missionaries we blew our money on candy and film (as opposed to candy  and bubble gum as if we were still kids). But there was something different in today’s activities. We buried one of the branch members. A unique experience. Brother Debruex took it very well (his wife had died). Their funeral practices are quite a little different than the states. Rodney gave a prayer just outside the steps of the hospital.  Jean-Pierre gave a very excellent talk on the resurrection—very timely— about thirty people attended. We walked to the cemetery a mile away. Rodney, the J.P. (justice of the peace) and I out in front of the hearse as representatives of the church and then followed by the rest of the mourners. I gave a dedicatory prayer at the grave then everyone passed by and threw dirt on the casket.

LuAnn sent me a shirt - fine.  Parents sent $100 for birthday and boy did I need it. Bought some film and took pictures in the Marché. Tomorrow is the commemoration of the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood.  A flick tonight.

Been reading out of my bible “What it is” section. Really interesting background reading.  Not too sound scripturally or rather doctrinally but fine fiction.  10 months and counting down—what a ‘trunker”.
