WE GOT PERMISSION TO BAPTIZE SOEUR SAUVEUR!!! 2/9/69
We went to the Sauveur’s place tonight and Marcelle met us at the door with a grin as big as a cheshire cat that just ate a bumble bee. We could tell right then that she had secured permission to be baptized. Brother was she happy or what? She was jumping around and smiling and just very happy.
We sat down and talked awhile. She called her dad who was out working ‘au the train’, the suspense mounted as we continued to talk but M. Sauveur didn’t come She was going to go out and call him again but we said, “no!” Finally and hour or later he came in. We talked awhile, for another hour on America etc, then brought up the subject of Marcelle’s baptism. Marcelle asked him for a teeny-weeny-signature…he complied…the room was quiet for those 2 or three minutes while he signed his name. She was over there in her chair just beaming and chuckling away. Then she went over to him and kissed him on the forehead and thanked him.
We continued to talk for about 45 minutes or so. He got up to get a book right after he signed. We thought he was storming off angry but no. Then we left after a prayer. We left a brochure, The Fundamentals de l’evangle. I think that the gospel is going to creep tout doucement (so carefully, gently) into that Brother’s home. We raced our bikes home—quite an exiting ride over the cobblestones. Baptism set for this Saturday. Marcelle confided that she knew the church was true clear back when Elder DeCoursey and I were working with her. When she was finishing her exams.
